Palm Sunday commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, which occurred several days before His death. As He rode into the city on a donkey to participate in the festival of Passover, the people of Jerusalem waved palm branches and spread them on the road saying, "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the King of Israel!"
