Church Reopen Plan

Reopen Live Q&A

May 18, 2020

Hello Church Family,

We hope you and your family have been well during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a follow-up to my April 23letter and subsequent posts, and it contains revisions to when our campus will reopen for ministry.

Since March, Community Church has adapted to municipal, state and national guidelines regarding COVID. On April 22, Governor J. Kevin Stitt rolled out a three-phase reopening plan that started on May 3.

  • Oklahoma’s Phase One began on May 3, allowing places of worship to reopen for in-person meetings or worship IF they leave every other row or pew open and adhere to CDC-recommended social distancing and sanitation protocols, plus the recommended guidelines from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. This date and conditions worked for some churches and not for others. We chose not to open our campus during Phase One.
  • Oklahoma’s Phase Twobegan May 15, allowing funerals and weddings, children’s nursery areas in places of worship, and organized sports activities to reopen and operate under proper social distancing and sanitation protocols. However, visits to senior care facilities and hospitals are still prohibited.
  • Oklahoma’s Phase Three is effective June 1. Governor Stitt’s plan allows summer camps (church and school) to reopen, with only senior care facilities and hospitals remaining closed to the public. Federal, state, and CDC social distancing and sanitation protocols are lifted.

After reviewing recent data regarding COVID, and with feedback from a number of our members, our leadership team is modifying our original reopening plans as follows:

  • Our Modified Phase One:

Our modified May 31 opening date is still subject to change, depending on data or guidelines from the State or CDC as they are released.

Stay safe! Love God. Love Others.
